​Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications:
  • DPhil (Art History), University of Sussex, December, 2014.
  • MA (Art Education), King Saud University, School of Education, graduated with a first-class honours degree (2007)
  • BA (Art Education), University of Riyadh, College of Art Education, graduated top of the class with a first-class honours degree (2003) 
  • Diploma (Professional Photography), NY Photography Institute (2007)


Work Experience:
  • (Oct-Nov 2014) Volunteered as an office and Galery assistant in Brighton Photo Biennale curated by Photoworks 2014.
  • (May 2013-Now) Freelance writer for the art section in Al-Jazirah Daily Newspaper, Saudi Arabia. 
  • (2011-Now), Freelance writer for the art section in Al-Riyadh Daily Newspaper, Saudi Arabia. 
  • (2009 - 2014), Lecturer at College of Art & Design/ Princess Nourah University, Riyadh.
  • (2008) Lecturer  at Art Education Faculty/ King Saud University     
  • (2004-2007) Teacher Assistant at Art Education Faculty/ Girls University in Riyadh   
  • (2007) worked as an Executive Vice President of the “Mawihba” Summer program for the gifted in Robotics.
  • (2005) worked as a Special Projects Coach for the “Mawihba” Summer program for the gifted in the Arts.
  • (2004) worked as Activities Manager, Exhibition Curator, and Chief Communication Officer for the “Mawihba” Summer program for the gifted in the Arts.
  • (September 2003) Published a children’s craft book titled “Kashkool Fannan”.

  • ‘Abstraction in Saudi Art: one solution, various situations’, A paper to be presented in the the Fourth Annual AMCA Conference Abstraction Unframed, May 2015, UAE.
  • (April 2014) ‘The Slipper Carrier: re-presenting domestic space’, A paper presented at the AAH 40th annual conference, Royal College of Art, London. 
  • (April 2013), ‘Searching for identity in the memories of others’, A paper presented at the PG Symposium, University of Sussex, Brighton. 
  • (August 2011), Jury member at the ‘Al Rajhi Bank 2nd International Annual Art Competition’, Riyadh.
  • (February 2010), Jury member at the  ‘Desca’s 4th Annual Art Competition’, Riyadh.

Exhibitions and Awards:
  • Florence Biennale X Edition, Florence/Italy, October 2015, and was awarded the “Lorenzo il Magnifico” International Award for winning second place in the mixed media category.
  • GCC Pop Culture exhibition curated by Khaleejesque magazine, Kuwait, 2015.
  • ‘Rhizoma’, The 55th Venice Biennale, Vince, 2013.
  • Won two awards and three certificates of excellence for her effort as a curator and artist in ‘A Statement of Identity’, at the University of Brunel, London, 2012.

  • “Feminine Plural”, The French embassy, Riyadh, 2008.
  • The 23rd “Saudi Contemporary National Exhibition”, Riyadh, 2008.
  • Won a prize in ‘The 4th National Exhibition for Saudi Women Artists’, Riyadh, 2008.

  • ‘Assafeer touring exhibition’, Germany, November 2007.
  • Won a prize in ‘Saudi Arabia in the Eyes of its Artists National Exhibition’, Riyadh, 2007.
  • Won second place in “Assafeer 2nd National Contest”, 2007.
  • “The 2nd National Competition for Computer Graphics”, 2007.
  • “Celebrating Art in Riyadh Exhibition”, The British Embassy, 2006.

  • Won first place in the sculpture category in ‘The 3rd National Exhibition for Saudi Women Artists’, Jeddah and a tour in North African capitols, 2004.
